Trash the Dress- Maria & Nathan

A trash the dress session is great way to get more amazing photos at great locations. It's an excuse to wear that gorgeous dress and go out on location to capture fun and artistic photos that you would never have time to do on a wedding day. After the dress has made it through the wedding and reception it is usually quite dirty on the bottom. Before getting it cleaned and preserved or just shoved into the back of a closet, why not take it out for a trash the dress session? The session can vary from getting the dress a little more dirty to getting totally into a lake or stream. Maria was willing to do anything, however the weather didn't cooperate. It was freezing and so windy, however the overcast sky was perfect for portraits. Luckily this location had plenty of shelter from the wind and we took lots of breaks for Maria to warm up.

Maria and Nathan were married last month at the Historic Courthouse in Stillwater, MN. I took them to Raspberry Island in Downtown St. Paul. There is a ton of great variety on this tiny island.

Amazing skyline views...

Plenty of water...

Huge pieces of drift wood, or I guess you would call them "drift trees"?

I love the MN Boat Club. The doors are so cool.

A very modern look at the band shell and the metal stairway.

It's never to late to pull that wedding dress out and head out to a cool location for a Trash the Dress session!

Tuesday

Lisa and Robert's Wedding

Lisa and Robert's wedding was a week and a half ago. The wedding was at St. Patrick's Church in Hudson, WI and the reception was at The Lake Elmo Inn in Lake Elmo, MN.

Lisa's dress was gorgeous! The beading detail was amazing and it suited her perfectly.

Lisa is a hair stylist so every one's hair got plenty of attention.

I love the flowers! The peonies looked awesome, something I rarely see at weddings.

The tears, of happiness, were definitely flowing when Lisa came down the aisle.

It was a VERY rainy Saturday and this all we got outside. A quick shot under the awning on the way to the limo.

Normally the food always tastes good at weddings, especially after 7+ hours of shooting. However the food at Lisa and Robert's wedding was phenomenal! Nice job Lake Elmo Inn!
Robert literally beamed the entire day. I can only imagine how sore his cheeks must have been at the end of the day.

The cake was SO GOOD! They had a small cake to cut into but each table had a cake as a centerpiece. There were several different delicious cake flavors for the guests to sample.
This group dove right into their cake.

Congrats Lisa and Robert! Remember in many cultures it is a sign of great luck to have rain on your wedding day. Wishing you a lifetime of love and friendship! Thanks for letting me be apart of your special day.

Luken's One Year Portraits

I had a great time getting to know this adorable 1 year old, Luken. We spent some time downtown Hudson and at the river park.
I love this face!
Total happiness...

and sweetly serious...
Click on this one to see it bigger, it's one of my favorites.

Luken is such a boy, wanting to get his hands on my camera.
